Originally from Scotland I moved to Surrey in 2000 when I accepted a new job.
I have always loved music of all genres especially if it gets my toes tapping. I began to learn Ballroom and Latin dancing when I lived in Essex where I worked behind the bar in the dance studio to fund private lessons and even managed to gain a few medals in the process.
I discovered salsa by accident one Sunday afternoon when I was driving back from visiting my sister in Birmingham. I noticed a sign outside The Winning Post in Richmond. It said…” Mambo City…Salsa here tonight…No partner required”
It was the “No partner required” bit that caught my eye so decided that I would give it a try. I was instantly hooked on the music and totally mesmerised just watching Robert and Jean, and many other’s just doing their thing and making it look so effortless. I remember thinking…OMG!! I want to dance like that. As well as a fantastic way making friends, learning salsa has also given me the opportunity to travel to places like, Barcelona, Lorette De-Mar, Alicante, Jamaica and of course Cuba. From that very first very nervous step inside The Winning Post all those years ago to today I have always felt like a member of the family that is “Mambo City”
