Tomas Guerrero – Santo Rico
Tomas Guerrero became one of the original members of Santo Rico Dance Co. in 1995. Tomas has never had any formal or prior dance training… Most of his training came through learning choreography and eventually performing with Santo Rico.
Over the last two decades, under his direction, Santo Rico Dance Company became one of New York’s premier and longest standing dance companies. They have been recognized as one of the most influential Salsa/Mambo dance companies in the world, serving as an inspiration and a training platform to New York’s most well-known dancers, performers, instructors, directors and dance companies.
As Santo Rico’s Director, Tomas and Santo Rico have traveled to 45 countries, spanning 6 continents and over 40 US cities to teach and perform its unique style of dancing. Santo Rico has performed at world-acclaimed events and venues, such as Madison Square Garden, most World Salsa Congresses, and alongside music-recording artists such as Tito Puente, to whom he served as a principal dancer for Tito’s 100th album. Also, Marc Anthony, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Oscar Deleon, Victor Manuelle, Hector Tricoche, Jose Alberto “El Canario,” Raulin Rosendo and Johnny Pacheco.
Tomas and Santo Rico were recently featured in its own HBO documentary, “El Espiritu de la Salsa.” Tomas Guerrero’s latest endeavor has expanded his one-of-a-kind experience, knowledge and wisdom of New York On2 Salsa/Mambo to Central Florida and the surrounding communities.
